I face your holy Temple,
bow down, and praise your name because of your constant love and faithfulness, because you have shown that your name and your commands are supreme. (Psalm 138:2, GNB) As I rise this day in the Presence of the Three I worship you Creator God; Maker, Sustainer and Lover of all; who alone is uncreated. As I rise this day in the Presence of the Three I embrace you Christ Jesus; Son of Mary, Son of God; my truest friend. As I rise this day in the Presence of the Three I inhale you gracious Spirit, breath of the Living God, who draws me into wholeness. For the gift of this day, for the gifts of love and life, for the gift of fellow pilgrims and companions on the way, we give you thanks, O Lord. Pause in silence and pray for one another. As I listen to your word may I hear your gentle whisper. Readings for the day from the Lectionary As your word goes with me this day, may it renew my heart and mind. Time for reflection You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. (Psalm 139:1-6, NIV) Pause in silence Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen. Prayer for others (focus on poor and powerless) I bind unto myself today the strong name of the Trinity by invocation of the same, the Three in One and One in Three. I bind unto myself today the power of God to hold and lead, God’s eye to watch, God’s might to stay, God’s ear to hearken to my need, the wisdom of my God to teach, God’s hand to guide, God’s shield to ward; the word of God to give me speech, God’s heavenly host to be my guard. (From Patrick of Ireland’s Breastplate) Go in peace, the Lord is with you. Go in peace, the Lord is within you. Go in peace, for wherever you go, the Lord is already there to greet you. Go in peace, the Lord is with you. Amen. |
