As with others involved in listening relationships with people - counsellors, psychotherapists, social workers - Spiritual Directors have developed a Code of Practice that encourages, even requires, them to meet regularly with another who facilitates reflection on their professional practice.
Dayspring offers both supervision for Spiritual Directors and help in finding Supervisors from external services if needed. While some Directors choose individual supervision, other graduates of Dayspring’s formation programs have established peer-based groups for ongoing mutual accountability and reflective practice. These gatherings include confidential, anonymous case reviews that foster deeper self-awareness and attentiveness in the presenting Director. Dayspring affirms that access to qualified supervision is a vital resource for all endorsed Spiritual Directors.
