Daily Prayer for the Week

Monday Evening Prayer

20/1/2025

Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy.
Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow,
will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.
(Psalm 126:5-6, NIV)

As the day closes, I centre again on the Presence of the Three
I worship you God,
the keeper of my soul.
I embrace you Jesus,
my constant companion.
I inhale you Spirit,
promise of the world to come.

God of love
Immerse us in your love
Christ of love
Centre us in your love
Spirit of love
Enchant us in your love.              (Repeat)

Pause in silence

As I listen to your word
may I hear your gentle whisper.

Readings from the Lectionary

May your word be in my sleeping,
my dreaming and my waking this night,
that it may watch over and replenish my soul.

Time for reflection

Late have I loved you, O beauty so ancient and so new; late have I loved you. For behold, you were within me and I was outside; and I sought you outside and in my unloveliness fell upon all those lovely things that you have made. You were with me, but I was not with you. I was kept from you by those things, yet had they not been in you, they would not have been at all.
You called and cried to me to break open my deafness: you sent out your beams and shone upon me and chased away my blindness: you breathed fragrance upon me, and I drew in my breath and now I pant for you: I tasted you, and now I hunger and thirst for you: you have touched me, and now I burn for your peace.
(Prayer of Augustine of Hippo)

Pause in silence

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and forever.  Amen.

Silence or Prayer for others

The Lord who created you says, "Do not be afraid – I will save you.
I have called you by name – you are mine. When you pass through deep waters, I will be with you; your troubles will not overwhelm you. When you pass through fire, you will not be burnt; the hard trials that come will not hurt you. For I am the Lord your God, the holy God of Israel, who saves you … because you are precious to me and because I love you and give you honour. Do not be afraid – I am with you!"
(Isaiah 43:1-5, GNB)

The Lord keeps you from all harm
and watches over your life.
The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go,
both now and forever.  Amen.
(Psalm 121:7-8, NLT)
