How exquisite your love, O God!
How eager we are to run under your wings, To eat our fill at the banquet you spread as you fill our tankards with Eden spring water. You’re a fountain of cascading light, and you open our eyes to light. (Psalm 36:7-9, The Message) As I rise this day in the Presence of the Three I worship you Creator God; Maker, Sustainer and Lover of all; who alone is uncreated. As I rise this day in the Presence of the Three I embrace you Christ Jesus; Son of Mary, Son of God; my truest friend. As I rise this day in the Presence of the Three I inhale you gracious Spirit, breath of the Living God, who draws me into wholeness. For the gift of this day, for the gifts of love and life, for the gift of fellow pilgrims and companions on the way, we give you thanks, O Lord. Pause in silence and pray for one another. As I listen to your word may I hear your gentle whisper. Readings for the day from the Lectionary As your word goes with me this day, may it renew my heart and mind. Time for reflection Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 5:3-10, NIV) Pause in silence Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen. Prayer for others (focus on Dayspring) I stand in this perfect day, my heart a song of praise for this jewel dropped from your hand. O Wondrous One, how beautiful must be your mind! How deep your faith that I must make response. Make me equal to your trust. May all this loveliness I see, pass into my spirit, then flow forth from me again into the beauty of love which gives itself. (Alistair Maclean, Hebridean Altars, p. 134, adapted) Go in peace, the Lord is with you. Go in peace, the Lord is within you. Go in peace, for wherever you go, the Lord is already there to greet you. Go in peace, the Lord is with you. Amen. |
