Living in Community: A Day with St Benedict and his Rule - 7th September 2024 (Cookernup)
Amongst the alternative Christian approaches to spirituality, the Benedictine is possibly the most down to earth. It is a treasure trove of wisdom about the practical art of living well and especially living on community—in our family life, our schools, our workplaces and our political and social institutions. It emphasises qualities such as listening, love, care, respect, service of others and awareness of one’s own frailties—all these are embedded in The Rule.
We will explore how the regular ritual of our day can become our rhythm of life in which we engage with God, find acceptance in the fullness of life (both good and bad) and deepen our understanding of hospitality in its widest meaning as a form of worship.
