A New Story
The world, I am not the first to suggest, is in crisis, many of the causes of which are
fundamentally spiritual. What we see and hear does not provide a coherent inspiring life-giving story inviting us into deeper relationships with God, others and the natural world.
We need a new story.
Drawing on the wisdom of our Christian tradition expressed in the work of Teilhard de
Chardin, Hildegard of Bingen, Beatrice Bruteau, Elizabeth Johnson and others we will
begin by looking at our images of God and how they relate to God as Trinitarian
(relational) being. The question, why is there something rather than nothing? will be
explored in the context of God’s relationship to the world in all its manifestations –
human, other living beings and matter itself. Underpinning our story is the belief that we live in an enchanted dynamic evolving world in which we are being drawn forward by a divine presence which is Love.
