Hasten, O God, to save me;
come quickly, Lord, to help me. (Psalm 70:1, NIV) As the day closes, I centre again on the Presence of the Three I worship you God, the keeper of my soul. I embrace you Jesus, my constant companion. I inhale you Spirit, promise of the world to come. God of mercy Show mercy to us all Christ of mercy Have mercy on us all Spirit of mercy Teach mercy to us all. (Repeat) Pause in silence As I listen to your word may I hear your gentle whisper. Readings from the Lectionary May your word be in my sleeping, my dreaming and my waking this night, that it may watch over and replenish my soul. Time for reflection Disturb us, Lord, when we are too pleased with ourselves, when our dreams have come true because we dreamed too little, when we arrived safely because we sailed too close to the shore. Disturb us, Lord, when with the abundance of things we possess we have lost our thirst for the waters of life; having fallen in love with life, we have ceased to dream of eternity. Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly, to venture on wilder seas where storms will show your mastery; where losing sight of land, we shall find the stars. Amen. (Prayer of Sir Francis Drake) Pause in silence Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen. Silence or Prayer for others I want you woven into a tapestry of love, in touch with everything there is to know of God. Then you will have minds confident and at rest, focused on Christ, God’s great mystery. All the richest treasures of wisdom and knowledge are embedded in that mystery and nowhere else. And we’ve been shown the mystery! (Colossians 2: 2-4, The Message) The Sacred Three my fortress be encircling me. Come and be round my hearth, my home. Amen.
