I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart;
I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High. (Psalm 9:1-2a, NIV) As I rise this day in the Presence of the Three I worship you Creator God; Maker, Sustainer and Lover of all; who alone is uncreated. As I rise this day in the Presence of the Three I embrace you Christ Jesus; Son of Mary, Son of God; my truest friend. As I rise this day in the Presence of the Three I inhale you gracious Spirit, breath of the Living God, who draws me into wholeness. For the gift of this day, for the gifts of love and life, for the gift of fellow pilgrims and companions on the way, we give you thanks, O Lord. Pause in silence and pray for one another. As I listen to your word may I hear your gentle whisper. Readings for the day from the Lectionary As your word goes with me this day, may it renew my heart and mind. Time for reflection [God] brings gifts into our lives, much the same way fruit appears in an orchard – things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely. (Galatians 5:22-23, The Message) Pause in silence Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen. Prayer for others (focus on our nation) Christ, as a light illumine and guide me. Christ, as a shield overshadow me. Christ under me; Christ over me; Christ beside me on my left and my right. This day be within and without me, lowly and meek, yet all-powerful. Be in the heart of each to whom I speak; in the mouth of each who speaks unto me. This day be within and without me, lowly and meek, yet all-powerful. Christ as a light; Christ as a shield; Christ beside me on my left and my right. (From Patrick of Ireland’s Breastplate) May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen. (Romans 15:13, NRSV) |
